PRESIDENTS MESSAGE:

Unfortunately due to the newsletter deadline I’m unable to congratulate all of the award winners. By the time this is published we’ll all know who the deserving winners were.

For the same reason I’m unable to comment on the special meeting that was held January 27 concerning our constitution amendments. Assuming all necessary requirements were met in order to hold this meeting I’m confident all amendments were looked at thoroughly and voted on appropriately. I want to thank you in advance for attending this very special meeting.

The second annual Turner Olympics is scheduled for February 24th – 2pm. Look for details at the club. Make it a point to participate in this event. You won’t be disappointed.

2008 American Turners Bowling Tournament will be held in Elgin IL on April 5th through May 4th. We’re scheduled to bowl April 19 & 20. Check the website for details.

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist with the 16th annual “WilliamWhetstone/Mark Fore” Men’s Softball Tournament. This years date is July 11, 12 & 13. If you’re interested in helping please contact me through the website. It’s not very often we have 800-1000 visitors at our club. We need to take advantage and come up with some additional revenue options.

 See you at the club

Jim Markland

Central States District Convention – March 15, 2008 – River City Turners – Louisville

As a member of Fort Wayne Turners, you are also a member of American Turners (National) and Central States Turners (District).

Each year Central States District holds its Convention the 3rd Saturday in March and a Fall Leadership Conference in October. The Convention this year is March 15 and will be hosted by River City Turners – Louisville

At the Convention the delegates from each Society report on the status of their membership and the events held by their Societies during the past year. They exchange ideas on how to improve their Societies and discuss ways to improve their own Societies and the District.

If you are a new member and have never attended a convention, please join us this year and share the camaraderie with your fellow Turners. For more information contact Dona Schaefer (260)639-35356.

NOTES FROM THE MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY:

January 31st has come and gone. If you have not renewed your membership, about the 15th of February you will receive a letter from Turners officially telling you that you have been dropped from the membership rolls. If you have been dropped from the rolls, you and your  children are no longer allowed to participate in Turner functions.  Names of people requesting to be dropped and of people being dropped for nonpayment of dues will be listed on the bulletin board in the hallway, behind the bar, and in the next newsletter.

If not renewing was a mistake, you need to contact me, Joy Bodine - 338-1965. There will be a $25 late charge for husband and wife renewal and $15 late charge for single renewal, These charges will not be waived because of previous notification you have received about the January 31st deadline (statement, 11/1) reminders each month in the newsletter; and reminder postcard 1/1/08).

Membership cards will be sent to you in the mail as soon as I receive them    from National Turners. Please have them with you in case the bartender asks to see it and any time you participate in a National event.

If you lose your card, please let me know. I will contact National Turners to have one reissued for you.

DUES STRUCTURE

Turners. Parent(s) must belong to Turners in order for children to participate in any event. People joining
